It is with a heavy heart that I inform you all that I went into labor last night unexpectedly and delivered Ethan at 2:31am. Unfortunately, he did not show signs of life at birth and after an attempt to resuscitate him, there was nothing more the doctors could do. I was blessed to have a short labor and delivery before meeting our beautiful son. We are still at the hospital right now, and physically I am feeling very good. Of course I can't say the same emotionally. I will be posting a more detailed birth story for Ethan soon, when I'm feeling more up to it. And I will also share pictures. Thank you for your continued prayers and support. They mean the world to us during this time of grief and healing.

  1. I know you don't know me, but I have been following your blog for a while now. I am so sorry for your loss. I can't wait to see pictures of Ethan; I'm sure hes beautiful! Your family will be in my thoughts and prayers.

  2. Dear Ashley,

may God bless your heart and give you all the strength you need to face this very difficult time. You and your family are in my prayers.

    Love in Christ,

  3. Oh Ashley. I am so so sorry to hear this. I just had sent you the article too. You, Keith, and Ethan are in my prayers. I am going to give you a call just to leave a voicemail and let you know we are praying endlessly for your family. Please don't worry about getting back to my email. That is not of any importance at this time. God bless you three Ashley.

  4. Hi Ashley,
You and Keith are in our prayers. May you find some peace from all the prayers being sent to you.

  5. Ashley,
While I have not had to experience any of what you may be experiencing at this time, I have found some peace in this scripture that was recently shared with me,
"Lord, when doubt fills my mind, when my heart is in turmoil, quiet me and give me renewed hope and cheer." Psalm 94:19

Ryan and I are praying for you all!

  6. Oh Ashley, I am so very sorry for your loss. I have been following your blog for some time now and I wish I could make it all better for you. I saw up above a bible verse and here is one that has always comforted me "For only I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future" Jeremiah 29:11
Tonight you and your family are in my prayers.
    Love, Lindsay Rhoads

  7. My heart breaks for you and your husband Ashley. There are no words that can mend your heart, so I won't try. I will say that I hope that God gives you strength and that you may someday cherish that you were able to carry him and love him like you did. Through all of the pain I hope that you also felt love.

I will continue to pray for you everyday. God bless.

  8. I'm so very sorry to hear of your loss. There are no words. You and your family are in our prayers.

  9. Dearest Ashley, I am so very sorry for your loss, My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

  10. I tried to comment, but not sure if it went through or not.

I was coming to your blog to send you well wishes and was so sad to read the news. Please know you are in my thoughts and prayers during this very difficult time. You now have one of the most beautiful, perfect angels watching over you and your husband.

    Keep your head up sweetie.

  11. Ashley, I found your blog through my friend Stef.
I cannot even begin to imagine what you and your husband and family must be going through. There are just no words.

Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.

My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.
    Psalm 73:26

  12. Dear Ashley,
Oh my Gosh, what a woman of God you are, I am so honored to be able to read about your strength. You are a Mother of true Love and Grace, and I pray that GOD sends you and Keith comfort with love. Ethan has certainly touched my family as we read your story together tonight. We lost our trisomy 13 little guy at 16 weeks, and my daughter said maybe Ethan and Kyton can play in heaven until we get there. She has been so touched by your story. I would sit up late at night and read your posts, and I did not realize she was watching from the stairs as I read about Ethan. She asked my husband what I was reading on the computer at bed time. He didn't know so he asked. When I told him we decided to be honest with her because we had walked this road as a family. She started praying for Ethan every night, and it was the sweetest thing. She will continue to pray for you and him as well. I hope you don't think we are crazy people (although I might be), but I want you to know how your precious baby Ethan has touched our lives. He gave us hope that will never die. We are sending you peace, love, and hope.
