8 Months Old!
Our little Wyatt is now 8 months old! He’s changed so much in the last month, with many new and exciting milestones.
We’ve expanded Wyatt’s repertoire of solid foods to include meats, puffs, and yogurt melts. He really enjoys them. Picking up his puffs is still a bit of a challenge, but he gets better at it every day. Wyatt loves fruits, and his favorite vegetables are still sweet potatoes and carrots. He eats so much of them that his nose is stained orange from food constantly getting stuck on it!
Wyatt now has his bottom two teeth, and I discovered yesterday that one of his top front teeth is just beginning to poke through. So exciting! I’m hoping it will fully break through soon and I can post some pictures of his new toofer!
We continue to enjoy hearing Wyatt babble to us each day. He mostly says “da da da” and I’ve been trying to correct him to say “Mama,” but it hasn’t happened yet. Silly boy!
The newest milestones Wyatt has reached this month are crawling and sitting up. He army crawls, and get can to any object in the living room in a matter of seconds. It scares the jeepers out of me! And of course, he gravitates to all items that are not toys. Cords and shoes seem to be his favorites at the moment. Since he can now sit up on his own, we have lowered his crib mattress. We determined that this needed to happen after he woke from a nap and proceeded to sit up and yank on the animals hanging from his mobile…
So that’s what’s new with Mr. Wyatt. Here are our most recent pics of this handsome dude:

7 Months!
Baby Wyatt is 7 months old! How quickly this month has gone! So what’s new with our little man?
We have been trying all sorts of new solids this past month. Wyatt has had sweet potatoes, squash carrots, peas, green beans, apples, bananas and pears. He’s definitely more of a “sweet” baby and prefers the fruits and orange vegetables. The greens, not so much. And he is definitely not a fan of Gerber squash. See below:
Mom, why are you inflicting this torture upon me??
The funny thing is, when we’ve given him the Hy-Vee brand squash, he’s gobbled it up. Perhaps they use a different type of squash? Who knows!
Wyatt now can sit up on his own unsupported. Of course, he does tend to fall on his side if he tilts too much or pulls on an unstable toy! It’s fun to watch him and he loves playing while sitting up much better than lying down. Who can blame him? He also (as of today) has started cutting his second tooth! For the last week or two I’ve been convinced that it would break through any day, and now it looks (and feels) like it finally is! So now we have to be careful when we let him teethe on our fingers..those little chompers can hurt!
Last month I also had my first weekend away from Wyatt, as my mom and I went to Denver for my cousin’s bridal shower. Keith and Wyatt hung out at home, and Keith’s parents even came down to visit and help him out. I missed him a lot but I have to admit, it was kind of nice to get away for a few days! Sadly, I still found myself getting up as early as I do at home with him…I’ve been told that’s what happens once you have a kid!
So that’s the update on our 7 month old Wy Guy. And of course, the latest pics:
Happy Easter Everyone!

1st Tooth!
Wyatt has officially gotten his first pearly white! I actually discovered it almost on accident last week. I was feeding him his oatmeal in the morning when he bit down on the spoon and started crying. This seemed very odd to me so I felt his gums and sure enough, there were the ridges of a tooth! For the past few days Wyatt's been a little fussy and agressively gumming everything he can, so I'm thinking there may be another one right around the corner. So exciting! I just had to share that milestone and a few more pictures too :)

1/2 A Year Down!
Our little Wyatt is 6 months old already! Can you believe it?! It’s amazing how time has flown by. He continues to change so much with each passing day, and it’s not until I pause and think about things that I realize how much he has grown in just the past month!
Wyatt has mastered rolling from both back to tummy and tummy to back. We are happy about this, as he used to get stuck on his tummy in his crib and cry. That was a frustrating few weeks! His leg strength has increased, and he can stand up (with help of course) for upwards of a minute before they give out on him. He also has been more vocal, making cooing and razzing noises on a regular basis.
This month we also started Wyatt on rice cereal and oatmeal. He’s done great with both, and I’ve discovered that my little piggy prefers them thickened and warmed up. He gobbles the stuff up! We plan on starting some veggies in the upcoming week. It will be interesting to see how he reacts to them.
We had Wyatt’s 6 month checkup today and everything looks great. He currently weighs in at 17.5 lbs (47th percentile) and is 26.5 inches long (53rd percentile). So once again he is average! As expected, he screamed during his shots, but was quickly calmed afterwards. His next appointment will be his 9 month checkup, and he’ll only have to get two shots at that one (as if that’s any consolation to him!).
I want to thank everyone for the emails and responses to my post regarding Wyatt’s sleep. While we are still having issues, things have gotten somewhat better. His naps are still hit and miss, but every so often he’s been giving me 1.5 hours instead of 30, so I’ll take it! I think the thing I need to remember right now is that he’s still a growing, changing baby, and things are not and may not ever be perfect in the sleep department. It is what it is, and all we can do is try our best to get him the rest he needs. That doesn’t necessarily make those 5:30am wakeup days any easier, but perhaps I should remind myself that someday he’ll be a teenager and we’ll be lucky if he wakes by noon!
Here are some recent pics of our 6 month old:
Mmmm...cereal!
Mom was tired of my Gary Busey hair so I got my first haircut this month.
I look like a big boy now!

Need Support (And Sleep)
I mentioned in my last post that Wyatt had been having some sleep issues. Well, unfortunately things have only gotten wose in the last month. We are currently stuck in a vicious cycle of super early bedtime (5:30pm), nightwakings, early wakeups (often before 6am), and crummy naps. He definitely is not getting the amount of sleep each day that he should, and has gradually racked up quite a bit of sleep debt.
So I'm asking all mommies out there for help. If you've ever gone through this with your baby (whether all of the above or just a few issues), I would love to get your advice! It's causing me a lot of stress and anxiety, and I fear that I am just making things worse for Wyatt by trying so many different approaches.
If anyone has any insight to offer as to how to pick up the pieces with this, PLEASE email me or post a comment! I would greatly appreciate it!

Ashley

5 Months!
Wow, I've really been slacking on the blogging! I can't believe it's been exactly a month since my last post, and Wyatt is 5 months old already. It seems like January went by so quickly. We've been lucky to have a very mild winter this year, and I'm hoping that will be the case for the rest of the season. Wyatt still has yet to see his first real snowfall. And to be honest, I wouldn't be heartbroken if he didn't see one until next year!
So what's new with our Wy Guy? He's currently working on mastering rolling over from back to tummy. He practices this in his crib, bouncer seat, and on the floor. Keith witnessed his first actual roll (well, sort of) the other morning. Wyatt was on his back playing while Keith was making breakfast. When he turned around again Wyatt was on his arms. He hasn't done this since, but he often gets soooo close. Just needs some more practice I suppose!
This past month we've encountered some sleep issues with Wyatt. Prior to that he's slept very well at night, sleeping from about 9pm-5:30am, up for a feeding, then back to sleep until 8 or 8:30am. During the day he would take 4 or so catnaps of 30-45 minutes at a time. I never thought twice about it until it started to affect his nighttime sleep. Suddenly he started waking every 30 minutes or so after being put to bed, and would do this for the first two hours or so. Then he would randomly wake throughout the night. And his naps continued to be quite short. As a result, we've had a baby who progressively gets fussier as the day wears on. So we've done some tweaking to his schedule and have tried to help him to fall asleep and stay asleep on his own. We've been putting him to bed very early (5:30pm) in an attempt to get him caught up on sleep. He's been getting much better at falling asleep with little to no fussing, and staying asleep throughout the night. We're hoping his naps will get better as his nighttime sleep improves.
We've also begun introducing Wyatt to formula. I've been starting to wean on the pumping, and am hoping to be done with it soon. We've been doing it slowly, adding an ounce at a time to his bottles. So far he seems to be taking it well, though he has been spitting up a bit more than he used to (not sure if it's the formula or bigger bottles he's been getting). We plan on introducing rice cereal in the next few weeks as well. I can't believe we're already to that point. Our baby is growing up!
